Jeremy Piper : Calgary Mounties
For this game, I am confident that Donald Wesley - CB needs to show up, but if he does the Mounties defense is very stingy. This will either be wildly entertaining or a dull grind. I see no middle between the two.

Definitely the losing streak is on their minds. They will get the win and break it in this game.

CB Loyd Boyd (CRB) goes #1 overall!

NEW YORK -- The Costa Rica Bushmasters drafted Loyd Boyd #1 overall in the 2031 draft. The 6' 0" CB fits the team's needs perfectly. Said Bushmasters general manager: "It's up to us to develop him and get good players around him."

"The great thing about the game of football is, it's a team game," Boyd said on a conference call. "I'm just going to be one piece of the puzzle."

Moore and Nox Mock Draft

Pick 1: Costa Rica Bushmasters
Larry Moore: Loyd Boyd - CB
Intangibles, leadership, what's not to love? Superb speed. This kid will fly all over the field. Pretty fast learner. The stars align for them to get him here. Just what they need. Blue-chip player with great upside. Hard to botch this pick.

Jim Nox: Loyd Boyd - CB
Intangibles, leadership, what's not to love? Just look at his tape? Crazy fast. He cannot be shaken off in coverage. Plays with great insticts. They gotta be happy to get this guy. Such a talent and he fits their needs. I would imagine the war room is celebrating when they make this pick.

Pick 2: New York Mafia
Larry Moore: William Mcdonald - LB
Need a leader? He is your guy. Goes nice and low on tackles. He has sufficient strength to not get bulllied on run plays. Closing speed good enough to get to the Quarterback often. Fans might not be on board with what can be framed as a need pick. But trust me once they see this kid play, they will be more than happy.

Jim Nox: William Mcdonald - LB
His leadership is through the roof. He is on the frontline, always. A great tackler. Consistent. Not the strongest, but strong enough. Can maintain his leverage and shed blocks. Nice speed for a Defensive End. Enough to keep contain and get sacks. Some might say this is a 'need' pick, but we must remember, this is a really good player as well. He will contribute early and often. No losers here.

Pick 3: Colorado Blue Mustangs
Larry Moore: Sammy Perez - DE
This kid is not afraid to work hard. His good natured behavior, even toward opponents have earned him some criticism, but also an awful lot of respect. This is a kid, where if you are winning he will shine, but he might have trouble with adversity. Not the strongest, but strong enough. Can maintain his leverage and shed blocks. Is fast enough to get sacks. Is fast enough to contain outside runs. Those are the players you look for at Defensive End. Well trained tackler. It is not often that the talent available fits perfectly with what you need. When it does, it makes for a win-win situation. This young man is going to be put in a position to succeed.

Jim Nox: Sammy Perez - DE
Raised to know the value of hard work. Respected for his good behavior on the field. This is a kid, where if you are winning he will shine, but he might have trouble with adversity. Definitely good strength for a Defensive End. Will shed blocks and occasionally bull rush smaller opponents. Not a topnotch forty time, but not bad either. Has enough quickness in his first step to do everything you ask of him. Finishes tackles well. Fans, coaches, and teammates alike will be ecstatic to get him on the team. He fits what they need, he is such a great talent. Everything lines up.

Pick 4: Kingston Blaze
Larry Moore: Heath Swenson - WR
Known among his teammates as a bit of a goofball, but never in a bad way. The kind that keeps spirits high even when a season goes south. Once you have forged a bond with this kid, he will stand by you to hell and back. Will hold onto the ball if he gets his hands on it. More than enough speed to create separation. I am looking forward to watching him develop. Some might say this is a 'need' pick, but we must remember, this is a really good player as well. He will contribute early and often. No losers here.

Jim Nox: Heath Swenson - WR
He takes care of his teammates. Most everyone who ever played with him, counts him as their friend. He will never throw someone else under the bus to save himself. Has pro ready catching ability, and that is what you are lookng for if you are going to take a receiver this high. Fast enough to challenge good cornerbacks in man coverage. And enough speed to threaten the deep ball. With this kid, this is a need pick they will not regret.

Pick 5: Perth Piranhas
Larry Moore: Aaron Dale - FS
This is a player who takes the lead. The guy has his head on straight. Has the speed to stay close to his man. While not elite, he has enough speed that you can do a lot of different things with him. Solid tackler. You do not need to tell him things twice. Very quick learner. The stars align for them to get him here. Just what they need. Blue-chip player with great upside. Hard to botch this pick.

Jim Nox: Aaron Dale - FS
Every team values leadership, someone to lead by example, this is the guy. This kid is not afraid to work hard. Coaches are always looking to add more speed to the defensive backfield. This guy has enough to make an impact. Wraps up well when tackling. He is alert and makes smart decisions to developments in the play. Are there other guys worth picking here? Sure, but none of them fit this well with what they need, and he is a solid talent.

Pick 6: Osaka Black Eagles
Larry Moore: Eric Cooper - DT
His leadership is through the roof. He is on the frontline, always. It is no coincidence he has attracted a lot of attention. This kid can bench press offensive linemen on his way to the Quarterback. Will never be a speed rusher, but his speed compliments his game nicely. It is definitely an asset. If you look at his tape again, you can see he reacts quickly on the field. A player that fits their needs. The promise of a future star. This will be great for the franchise.

Jim Nox: Eric Cooper - DT
Coaches love the leadership skills in this kid. Imagine having that kind of strength consistently blowing through the middle. I can, scouts can, and coaches can. With this kind of physique, many teams would love to have him. People always rave about speed. This young man has more than enough speed for the position. You do not need to run tack to get sacks. His college teammates all point to how smart he is. Might not be what fans want, but there is a reason people are getting paid to make these decisions. This is a rock solid pick, and he fits what they are looking for. Fans will come around quickly once they see him play.

Pick 7: Wakefield Knights
Larry Moore: Bill Taylor - DT
This is a kid, where if you are winning he will shine, but he might have trouble with adversity. He brings decent strength to the position. Can collapse the pocket against weaker offensive linemen. Good jump off the line. Enough speed to be unpredictable in his passrushing moves. I like the way he tackles. Wraps up the ball carrier and drags him down. No need to take chances. Fits nicely with their needs. Fits nicely with the draft spot. Getting it right is important with these early picks. This guy is right.

Jim Nox: Bill Taylor - DT
This kid never gives up, losing is unacceptable to him. He brings decent strength to the position. Can collapse the pocket against weaker offensive linemen. Good speed for a Defensive Tackle. He should get sacks. And you know who likes sacks? Everyone! Well, except offenses. Solid technique on tackles. Might not be what fans want, but there is a reason people are getting paid to make these decisions. This is a rock solid pick, and he fits what they are looking for. Fans will come around quickly once they see him play.

Pick 8: Frankfurt Eintracht
Larry Moore: Terrence Lay - T
This guy understands what it means to be a pro. In addition to his own role, this kid doubles as glue. He makes everyone on the field play as a team. Fast learner. They almost have to make this pick. You do not want to look back in five years and see this kid on another team knowing he could have been yours.

Jim Nox: Terrence Lay - T
Due to his work ethic, this kid is very coachable. He plays well with others. He understands there is a reason for each assignment on every play. If you look at his tape again, you can see he reacts quickly on the field. They should not be afraid to fill a need here. He will start day one. Quality pick right here.

Pick 9: Iceland Bombers
Larry Moore: Robert Olson - CB
Here you have a kid who puts in the work to succeed. Speedy enough to cover. Will need to cushion a bit on the faster receivers, but they will account for that in the play design. Plug a hole in the roster with a great player. That is really what they need to do. This pick does it.

Jim Nox: Robert Olson - CB
This kid puts in the work. Fast enough to play man coverage. Can go toe to toe with most receivers. He fills a need for them. Great pick here.

Pick 10: Zala Spartans
Larry Moore: Henry Hill - RB
Teammates look to him for leadership, and he consistently delivers. His college coaches talk highly of his work ethic. His good natured behavior, even toward opponents have earned him some criticism, but also an awful lot of respect. Plays with good agility. Fast enough that you want to keep him from reaching the second level. It is not often that the talent available fits perfectly with what you need. When it does, it makes for a win-win situation. This young man is going to be put in a position to succeed.

Jim Nox: Henry Hill - RB
Teammates gravitate toward him, they follow his lead. Coaches love that about him. His college coaches talk highly of his work ethic. He is driven by the love of the sport. Makes good cuts. Is faster than his tape shows. They should not be afraid to fill a need here. He will start day one. Quality pick right here.

Coaching Carousel Predictions.

The offseason is upon us and that means teams are shaking up their coaching staffs. This means that we get to take our annual look at coordinators who could make the leap to become head coaches, and the teams who are likely to poach them.

The prime candidates identified by our experts are:
George Mcgovern - Offensive Coordinator - Valencia Murcielagos
Steve Ortiz - Defensive Coordinator - Spokane Stags
Wes Dollar - Defensive Coordinator - Osaka Black Eagles
Claude Parrish - Offensive Coordinator - New York Mafia
Brandon Brown - Offensive Coordinator - Gothenburg Foxes
Daniel Redd - Defensive Coordinator - Boston Corsairs
Stephen Thompson - Defensive Coordinator - Calgary Mounties
Joel Willis - Offensive Coordinator - Calgary Mounties
Irving Seay - Defensive Coordinator - Zala Spartans

As always, we are prone to wild speculations, so we asked our in-house experts to do a little matchmaking between candidates and teams. Here is what they came up with:

Mary Moore:
Steve Ortiz leaves the Stags to become the head coach for the Kinshasa Silverbacks.

Darren Francis:
I think the Stags lose Steve Ortiz and I see him heading to Kinshasa Silverbacks.

Jim Nox:
The Mafia cannot hold on to Claude Parrish. I would like to see him coach the Costa Rica Bushmasters.

Jeremy Piper:
Joel Willis is certainly on the move. That means Mounties will need a new coordinator. As for where Willis ends up? Well, I think Wakefield Knights is a good bet.
